Chevrolet unveiled The New Camaro SS, the AmericanRacing Machine, in Yongin AMG Speedway and began receiving pre-orders on December 13.

The New Camaro SS, which has been evolved six times since its launch in 1966, boasts its explosive performance, producing up to 453 horsepower and up to 62.9 kg.m of torque with an 8-cylinder 6.2L engine and the newly added 10-speed hydramatic automatic transmission, and maximizes driving fun with upgraded, user-centered and cutting-edge convenience features.

GM Korea CEO Kaher Kazem said, “Camaro is engraved in customers’ mind as a representative symbol of performance, Chevrolet’s core DNA, and as an original American muscle car,” and “with its overwhelming performance, bolder design, and premium convenience features, The New Camaro SS will strengthen its position in the domestic high-performance sports car market and bring vitality to Chevrolet product lineups.”

Bolder, more intense design

The New Camaro SS inherits an original American muscle car’s three-dimensional design, and yet it boasts a bolder and differentiated design.

It’s daring that The New Camaro SS adopts the integral glossy black bar ‘flowtie’ and the wider-designed large metallic front grille. In addition, the newly added LED headlamp is matched with the sleek LED positioning lamp to create strong impressions.

The side design that reminds you of a sprinter’s sleek, strong muscle, the Camaro SS-exclusive black bow tie, the new LED tail lamp, and the large caliber dual muffler on the rear, all works together to highlight unique details of the Camaro SS design.

Along with an 8-inch color Supervision Cluster and a color head-up display, a Camaro driver can decorate the interior with ambient lighting in 24 colors to express his driving mood. Moreover, the sporty jet-black punched leather seat gives The New Camaro SS a more sophisticated look.

The New Camaro SS offers a total of 4 exterior colors such as Tuxedo Black, Flaming Red, Ash Grey, and Dark Shadow Metallic and adopts newly-designed 20-inch wheels.

Overwhelming high-performance powertrain

An 8-cylinder 6.2L naturally aspirated gasoline engine has been equipped on All New Camaro SS. For The New Camaro SS, the same engine is mated with the newly added hydra-matic 10-speed automatic transmission to produce a monstrous performance that brings you with a maximum of 453 horsepower and a maximum torque of 62.9 kg.m.

The new Camaro carries many high-tech features like Magnetic Ride Control that controls damping based on the road condition checked over 1,000 times per second, a high-performance Brembo brake system, and the Torque Vectoring System that optimize the cornering control through the rear wheel brakes that work independently. In addition, The New Camaro demonstrates its early acceleration with the Custom Launch Control system that includes the Line Lock, speeding from 0 to 100km/h in only 4.0 seconds.

Moreover, Camaro drivers can select a driving mode among four types of driving mode such as Tour, Sports, Track, and Snow/Ice, which enables driving on both a racing circuit and normal roads.

Cutting-edge premium convenience features

The New Camaro SS adopts the luxurious Chevrolet infotainment system with an intuitive design and a crisp 8-inch high-resolution display.

The newly added Chevrolet infotainment system provides a multi touch system that allow customers to easily control the display panel. Moreover, the digital Super Vision Cluster connected to a head-up display shows important driving information on various display panels for comfortable driving.

In addition, the new Camaro has a rear camera mirror, first introduced on the Cadillac CT6 and XT5. Going perfectly well with its new rear digital camera, The New Camaro’s rear camera mirror significantly improves the driver’s rear vision without hindrance and can be switched to the conventional ECM mirror.

For passengers’ safety, The New Camaro SS is equipped with 8 high-tech airbags, StabiliTrak System, Blind Spot Alert, Lane Change Alert, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Rear Parking Assist with a rear camera and run-flat tires, along with the Active Hood System that reduces shock on pedestrians by raising the hood in case of collision, to minimize their injury.

Chevrolet The New Camaro SS is priced at 54.28 million won; its Volcano Red Edition with Scorpion Red interior is 55.07 million won.
