SEOUL – GM Korea Company sold 24,265 vehicles in February, including 5,098 vehicles in the domestic market and 19,167 vehicles in export markets.
Domestic sales increased 2.4% over the same period in the previous year despite the seasonal downturn in the vehicle market and fewer operating days due to the Lunar New Year holiday.
The Chevrolet Spark, with 1,759 units sold in Korea last month, led the brand’s domestic sales.
The Trailblazer has also become a key model in the domestic market, with 1,285 units sold in February. Sales surged 111.3% on an annual basis, showing the enthusiastic market response even a year after the model’s launch in Korea. The Trailblazer has been strengthening its popularity among customers between the ages of 25 and 39 through the “Trailblazer Muse Program,” which began in 2020. Fifty promotional ambassadors who were selected in the second season have started their official duties following a recent launch ceremony.
Chevrolet’s imported RV lineup, which includes the Traverse and Equinox, also empowered domestic sales. The Traverse posted a sales increase of 14.2% from the same month last year on the back of 274 units sold, while the sales of Equinox were up 122.0% year-on-year.
Sales of the Damas and Labo, whose production is expected to end sales increased 54.2% and 119.7% year over year on sales of 350 and 468 units respectively.
“Chevrolet’s RV products, which also include the Trailblazer, are expanding their market presence while other key models, such as the Spark, are also playing a significant role,” said GM Korea Vice President of Sales, Service and Marketing Cesar Toledo. “In spring, we plan to actively respond to customer demand by delivering the value of Chevrolet products, from sedans to SUVs and commercial vehicles, while offering unconventional promotions.”
In March, Chevrolet is providing generous benefits to customers, such as interest-free installments and subsidies on vehicle purchases, through the Spring 2021 with Chevrolet promotional event. In addition, Chevrolet will provide generous giveaways to those who signed up for the brand’s online purchase reservation service in February and will complete their contracts by March 10.
