Duane F. Miller was promoted and appointed to the position of general sales manager, GM dealers in November 2000. In this position he is responsible for GM Parts and GM Accessories sales, as well as GM Goodwrench Service Plus. Miller is GM's principal contact with GM dealers on matters relating to parts, accessories and service merchandising opportunities. Prior to his current assignment, Miller was general sales manager, ACDelco Aftermarket, a position he to which he was appointed in March 1997.
Miller joined GM in 1971 as a merchandising representative in Chicago for the former AC Spark Plug Division. The following year he was promoted to district manager. In 1974, he became metropolitan district manager in Minneapolis. That same year he transferred to Detroit when he was appointed merchandising product specialist for ACDelco. In 1975, Miller became product manager and the following year transferred to Cincinnati as zone sales manager. He returned to Detroit in 1977 as project manager in marketing, three years later he was appointed manager of national fleet sales. He was named marketing manager for electrical products at SPO in 1986, and the following year became general product manager for maintenance products and services. In 1988, he was appointed general product manager for electrical and sundry products. A year later, Miller was named western area sales manager for the ACDelco national account sales activity, and in 1991, became director of programmed distribution. That same year, he was appointed manager of the Detroit Zone for GM Parts and in 1993 was named west area sales manager for ACDelco.
Miller graduated from Western Michigan University in 1971 with a bachelor-of-science degree in marketing. In 1994 he attended the Executive Development Program at the University of California-Berkeley Hass School of Business.
