Scott Mackie was appointed general director of ACDelco, SPO International and New Ventures in Nov. 2000 for General Motors Service and Parts Operations. He was named general director of SPO International Sales and New Ventures in March and general director of New Ventures in September 1999.
Mackie began his GM career in 1979 as a General Motors Institute (GMI) cooperative educational student at GM of Canada and moved to the former Buick-Oldsmobile-Cadillac (BOC) Group Assembly Plant in 1981. Following his 1984 graduation, Mackie held positions at BOC in engineering, facilities planning and finance before being named treasurer and director of CAMI Automotive, Inc., a GM-Suzuki joint venture in London, Ontario, Canada.
In 1990, Mackie moved to the GM Treasurer's Office in New York to coordinate financing and acquisition activities for GM operations in Latin America, Asia and Africa. He was appointed director of overseas finance a year later. Mackie moved to Zurich in 1992 as the director of financial analysis and planning and was appointed vice president, planning for GM Europe and GM International Operations in 1994.
Mackie was named managing director of GM Poland, Warsaw, and Opel Polska, Gliwice, in 1996. He held this position until joining SPO.
A native of Ontario, Canada, Mackie received a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from GMI (now Kettering University) in 1984, and a master's degree in business administration from the University of Chicago in 1986.
