Rick Wagoner visits Challenge X Students at GM’s Milford Proving Ground

Rick Wagoner, Chairman and CEO of General Motors visited with the Challenge X students on June 1, 2007. He gave encouraging remarks to the students for the days of competition ahead. Wagoner also thanked the students for their dedication and hard work on the crucial technologies that face the automotive industry today. He answered several questions from the students as well as having lunch with one student from each team.

Rick Wagoner test drove The University of Waterloo’s, year one winning, hydrogen fueled vehicle as well as Virginia Tech’s, year 2 winning, split-parallel hybrid vehicle that uses E85 fuel.

The Challenge X competition, sponsored by General Motors and the U.S. Department of Energy, is North America 's premier college-level automotive engineering competition. The competition will conclude June 7 at the GM World headquarters in Detroit where the winners will be announced at the Renaissance Center, downtown Detroit.
