The rearview camera provides a view of the rear of the vehicle that is not easily seen by the outside or inside rearview mirrors, allowing the driver to check for people or obstacles directly in the path of the vehicle. Drivers should still inspect around their vehicles for children, pets, and other objects.
The camera requires a navigation radio display and can work in conjunction with the rear parking assist (RPA) feature to provide additional warning of obstacles. The camera is mounted in the license plate pocket for an integrated styling appearance.
How it works
The camera functions when the vehicle is shifted into Reverse gear. A large, clear picture of the camera’s images is displayed on the navigation radio display. For convenience, it will display the image up to 10 seconds, determined partly by vehicle speed, after the vehicle is shifted into Drive. The rearview camera also works with the Ultrasonic Rear Parking Assist system to display caution triangles on the Navigation display in the approximate location of the obstacle.
