Rainsense Windshield Wiper System

Rainsense windshield wipers vary the speed of the wipers based on the amount of moisture on the windshield. It uses a special sensor mounted behind the interior rear-view mirror to detect moisture on the windshield. The sensitivity of the system is driver-adjustable.

How it works

When water droplets make contact with the windshield, they refract the infrared beams and activate Rainsense. The harder it rains, the more rain is sensed, and the harder the wipers work. Rainsense also overrides the vehicle’s running lamps and turns on its headlamps after just 20 seconds of rain.
