A comfort feature for cold climates and cool mornings, the heated seat feature allows the driver, passenger and, with GM's full-size SUVs, the second-row passengers to engage a heating device that warms the seat. This more quickly provides a comfortable environment. Many models offer two or more heat settings, allowing the passenger to warm the seat to a "just right" temperature.
How it works
An electrically controlled heating element in the seat provides the heat. Temperature is regulated and built-in safeguards help prevent overheating.

A comfort feature for hot climates, the cooled seat option allows the driver and passenger to engage a device that cools the seat. According to researchers from the U.S. Department of Energy, drivers can increase vehicle fuel efficiency by more than seven percent if they opted for the new generation of seats equipped with ventilating features. DOE tests conclude ventilated seats keep vehicle occupants cooler, so they consequently reduce the use of the vehicle's air conditioning system to achieve the desired level of comfort, thereby improving fuel economy.
How it works
Cooling and ventilating elements are built into the seat cushion and backrest to keep the seat cool even in the hottest conditions. The cooling and/or ventilating elements circulate air within the seat cushion and back, which reduces the temperature of the seating surface for the occupant.
