daily report Challenge X 2008 Daily Report - Day 2 (May 14, 2008)

Day Two: All of the teams have passed through safety/technical inspections!!! Also, 10 teams have gone through emissions testing and nine teams have been tested in AVL drive quality. At the end of Day Two, we here at Challenge X at Raceway Park in Englishtown, New Jersey and the sun is shining on us again.

It’s important to note that at this point in the competition the vehicles are at the highest state of development that they’ve ever been.
“Quite a few vehicles are extremely impressive and more than a few are at near-production quality,” said Bob Larsen, Senior Technical Staff from Argonne National Laboratory. “There is clearly a considerable amount of work has been done to these vehicles since our last meeting at EVS in California last December.”

Day Three teams will be finish up their dynamic events and start their static events and presentations. Students will be getting their vehicles and themselves shined up for displays and consumer acceptability presentations.
