The 2008 Chevrolet Silverado delivers on its reputation as the industry’s most dependable and longest-lasting pickup truck. The newest generation Silverado is the strongest yet, delivering segment-best power and fuel economy.
The Silverado lineup is built on a platform completely redesigned for 2007 that supports a smoother ride and responsive, confident handling while delivering segment-leading capability and power. A lineup of six powerful, small-block V-8 engines complements the stronger chassis to deliver the light-duty segment’s highest-rated towing capacity (10,500 pounds / 4,763 kg), horsepower (367 hp / 274 kW) and fuel economy, with a maximum payload capacity of 2,160 pounds (980 kg).
Unique-to-Silverado elements such as front fenders, grille, headlamps, bumpers, power dome hood, taillamps, box design and flared rear fenders make Silverado look as good as it works. D ealer-installed Chevrolet accessories personalize the appearance and extend the truck’s functionality.

Tubular assist steps – Help make it easier to get into and out of Silverado with these stylish, high-strength, corrosion-resistant, stainless steel tubular assist steps. They’re available in black or chrome, in three-inch round or six-inch oval versions.
20-inch wheels – Chevrolet Accessories offers six different styles of 20-inch wheels to add a customized look to the Silverado. These bold wheels will help customers roll in style wherever they go.
Cat-back exhaust system – Give the exhaust note of Silverado a throaty purr or growl with custom-built, single or dual cat-back exhaust systems. Constructed of free-flowing, mandrel-bent, T304 stainless-steel tubing with semi-polished muffler, both Touring and Performance systems have a fully polished, dual-walled, four-inch angle-cut tip. Both systems feature the Chevy bowtie logo.
Hard tonneau cover – Secure cargo under this lockable, lightweight, molded-composite hard tonneau cover (late availability). Designed to complement the Silverado’s style, the cover, available in select body colors, features struts for easy opening and closing and a quick-release mechanism for easy removal.
Portable DVD player – Flexible for in-vehicle or out-of-vehicle use, this portable, dockable rear-seat DVD player integrates perfectly into the headliner of Silverado Crew Cab models. Rear-seat passengers can enjoy it while riding, then remove it for use outside the vehicle. Perfect for a family with an active lifestyle, it includes two wireless headphones and a remote control. The portable DVD player requires the available sunroof and a docking station (sold separately).
Cargo management – The Silverado has an innovative cargo management rail system. Three rails run the length of the bed sides and behind the cab and incorporate upper and lower tracks. The system is available as a factory option, or a dealer-installed accessory.
These rails enable the use of a variety of accessory products including:
- Overhead utility rack
- Sliding diamond-patterned toolbox with codeable lock technology
- Sliding bed divider
- Side storage boxes with codeable lock
