Senior Facilitator, Disney Institute
Dennis Frare is a Senior Facilitator for Disney Institute. In this role, Dennis applies more than 30 years of professional training and leadership experience to helping organizations benchmark Disney best practices as they strive to enhance the way they do business.
Dennis joined Disney in 1978 as an Outdoor Recreation Host at Disney’s Contemporary Resort at the Walt Disney World Resort in Lake Buena Vista, Fla. For Dennis, as for many others, the resort became a living laboratory for studying the art of delivering legendary guest service.
By 1985, the passion for analyzing, understanding and teaching Disney business principles became irresistible and Dennis joined the faculty of Disney’s internal training department, Disney University. A variety of leadership roles at Disney University gave Dennis in-depth knowledge of the Disney way of hiring, training, nurturing and developing employees.
One of Dennis’ major achievements while at Disney University was the development of a program called Traditions Assistants, which utilizes active, front-line cast members to deliver Disney’s new-employee orientation program, “Disney Tradition”. This practice of enlisting frontline cast members in delivery of the Disney Traditions program was immediately successful, and is still in use today.
In 1987, Dennis was recruited to develop and manage the training department for a new Disney business, the Disney Stores. Dennis later worked with several of the company’s most senior executives to introduce a revolutionary system of leadership development and accountability called Performance Excellence. Another highly-successful initiative, Performance Excellence is still in use today and is at the core of Disney’s Approach to Leadership Excellence, one of Disney Institute’s most popular programs.
Following a decade spent away from Disney as the owner/operator of a successful corporate training enterprise, Dennis returned to Disney in early 2007 as a facilitator and today is a Program Consultant designing and delivering training programs across multiple industries around the globe. Those industries include healthcare, financial services, education, manufacturing, construction, government, hospitality, pharmaceutical, retail, technology, transportation, insurance, real estate, transportation, and sports markets.
Dennis earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Recreation Management from State University of New York in 1978. He is certified as a DiSC personality Profile Systems instructor. Dennis resides in Orlando, Florida.
