Johannesburg – Isuzu has again embarked on an anti-poaching project in partnership with Nkombe Rhino, a non-profit organisation dedicated to wild life conservation, to ensure the safety of the endangered Rhinoceros in the Blue Canyon Conservancy. The conservancy is situated in Hoedspruit in the Limpopo Province, which is the epicentre of the rhino poaching epidemic where incidents of poaching occur on a daily basis. The dehorning project which lasted three days targeted 24 rhinoceros which were successfully dehorned.

Port Elizabeth - Opel’s award-winning eleventh generation Astra which was crowned the 2016 European Car of the Year just last month has reached South African showrooms. Great start to the year for Opel: The brand sold around 303,000 vehicles across Europe in the first quarter – an increase of almost 24,000 vehicles or 8 percent compared to the same period of 2015. Opel has managed to break through the 300,000 new vehicle barrier for the first time in five years thanks to the successful ongoing product offensive. The brand with the Blitz showed a stronger development than the overall European market, which only grew by 5 percent from January to March. Opel’s market share was thus up by around 0.2 percentage points to 6 percent. The company therefore recorded it best first quarter sales figures and market share for five years.

JOHANNESBURG – Total industry sales for February totaled 48 149 units as reported by NAAMSA. The overall industry was 8.1% down versus February 2015, which is consistent with the year to date decline of 7.6%. Passenger car sales for the month were down 6.1% vs February 2015 with sales to rental companies partially offsetting the declining sales through the dealer channel. Light Commercial Vehicle (LCV) sales were down 13.1% in February, however we expect some recovery in LCV sales in March with new entries into the market.

According to preliminary data, sales increased by 7,500 units or 10.4 percent compared to January 2015. Thus, the Rüsselsheim-based carmaker registered significantly more growth than the overall European market (growth of 2.6 percent). Opel’s market share was up by 0.4 percentage points to 5.75 percent.

DETROIT – General Motors Co. (NYSE: GM) today announced an increase to its 2016 earnings per share adjusted outlook to between $5.25 and $5.75, up from the prior outlook of $5.00 to $5.50 provided on Oct. 1, 2015.
