DUBAI – The safest crash is the one that never happens. All-new 2015 Chevrolet Tahoe, one of the most popular nameplate among Middle East families, offers an array of the state-of-art safety technologies to ensure the 360 degrees of crash avoidance and occupant protection.

Standard and available features include forward collision alert, front park assist, lane departure warning, lane change assist, rear cross traffic alert and adaptive cruise control. GM-patented available Safety Alert Seat vibrates if the system determines the driver is at risk of colliding with another vehicle.

  • Side blind zone alert – Uses short-range radar sensors in the rear quarter panels to “look” for other vehicles the driver may not be able to see. If the system detects a vehicle in the adjacent lane, it will illuminate an amber symbol in the outside mirror. If the driver signals to change lanes in the direction of the affected vehicle, the symbol will flash amber. It is available on LTZ.
  • Adaptive cruise control – Long-range radar detects a vehicle ahead and automatically adjusts the vehicle’s speed to maintain a pre-selected distance. It is available on LTZ.
  • Crash imminent braking – If an imminent crash is detected, the brakes will automatically apply to reduce as much vehicle speed as possible to lessen the effects of the collision. It is available on LTZ.
  • Rear cross traffic alert – Uses the side blind zone sensors to warn drivers of approaching cross traffic while backing up. The system triggers a visual alert on the navigation screen and pulses the safety alert seat if it detects approaching vehicles up to 20 meters away from the right or left. It is available on LTZ.
  • Forward collision alert – A camera mounted behind the inside rearview mirror detects when a driver is at risk of hitting the vehicle ahead. A visual alert will display in the instrument cluster and the windshield and the safety alert seat will pulse several times to warn the driver. It is standard on LT and LTZ and available on LS models.
  • Lane change alert – Uses the side blind zone sensors to warn drivers of fast-approaching vehicles up to 70 meters away in the adjacent lane, not just in the blind zone. It is standard on LT and LTZ and available on LS models.
  • Lane departure warning – A camera mounted behind the inside rearview mirror detects when the driver drifts into an adjacent lane without signaling, displaying a visual alert in the instrument cluster and pulsing the safety alert seat three times on the side of the lane infraction. It is standard on LT and LTZ and available on LS models.

The Tahoe also offers the segment’s only front-seat center air bag, in bucket-seat models, which is engineered to provide additional protection for drivers and front passengers in far-side impact crashes.

In addition, the all-new Tahoe has more high-strength steel in its frame, providing customers with greater protection in a crash.

In case of a collision, post-crash functions assist occupants and first responders, which include automatic fuel system shutoff and door unlock; and automatic illumination of interior and flashing hazard lights.

From a security standpoint, the 2015 Tahoe offers a new level of security.

Thwarting theft was a design focus of Chevrolet’s full-size SUVs. New standard features include a steering column lock that deters push-away and tow-away theft – a significant portion of today’s stolen vehicle incidents; side cut keys that deter lock picking and more robust door lock cylinders and shields to prevent access with slim jims and other tools.

Creative and hidden storage behind the available 8-inch infotainment screen on the center stack is large enough to hold valuables like a wallet and smartphone. Customers are able to lock or access it with a four-digit code through the “valet mode” menu in the Chevrolet MyLink system. A confirmation entry of the code simultaneously locks the bin and secures personal information.

“Safety and security are our customers top purchase considerations,” said Mark Clawson, Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban marketing manager. “With all new standard and available safety and security features, we’re able to provide 360 degrees of crash avoidance, occupant protection and greater theft protection.”

The all-new 2015 Tahoe will reach Middle East showrooms in August. It will be available in three trim levels – LS, LT and LTZ, with a choice of 2WD and 4WD.
