Zurich. Just a few days ahead of the much anticipated debut of the new Corvette Stingray at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show, Chevrolet gave fans a sneak preview of the Stingray coupe at three locations in Germany and Switzerland.
"Corvette is a true global icon that has loyal fans all around the world," said Vijay Iyer, Director of Communications, Chevrolet and Cadillac Europe. "This is why it was important to us to show our appreciation to our Corvette enthusiasts here by giving them the opportunity to be among the first to see the all-new Stingray coupe in Europe."
The performance car was unveiled to some of the most passionate Corvette fans at locations near Frankfurt, in Munich and close to Zurich. Many of the fans paid tribute to the legacy of the iconic nameplate by arriving in their own Corvettes.
These pre-reveals of the new Corvette Stingray coupe further increased the anticipation prior to the car’s official European debut at the Geneva Motor Show on Tuesday, March 5.
Volker Post was one of the fans who got to see the Stingray coupe near Frankfurt. "As soon as I saw the car, I immediately posted on Facebook: 'It has arrived, and we were there. Great!", he said. Just 30 seconds after the brand-new performance car had been revealed to the fans, the first images were shared online.
The largest group of fans gathered at the home base of the "Circus Krone" in Munich on Saturday morning. Positioned in the center of the large circus arena, the Stingray coupe was prominently placed for each and every one of the approximately 500 fans to see.
Later in the day, the Swiss fan club welcomed the Corvette-branded truck at the German-Swiss border and escorted it to the third stop near Zurich.
Stingray is one of the hallowed names in automotive history. While the all-new Corvette Stingray coupe will be unveiled for the first time in Europe at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show, the Stingray convertible will celebrate its global debut at the event.
Corvette owner and enthusiast clubs exist all over the world. In fact, 58 percent of the 1.1 million fans who like Corvette's official Facebook page are outside the United States.
