At the Heart of the Market
- Segment: compact
- In model range since: 2004
- Units sold in Europe until June 30, 2010: 165,250
The compact class is the largest segment in the European market. Chevrolet's model for this category offers an engine for every purpose, including the 2.0-liter common-rail diesel unit with 121 hp that was introduced in March 2007. Like the two larger gasoline units, the Lacetti diesel is available with a four-speed automatic transmission as an alternative to the five-speed manual gearbox.
Since spring 2008, customers have had the option of a sporty body package, including front and rear fascia. The Lacetti's modern lines were designed by Italdesign that was founded by Giorgetto Giugiaro. Thanks to the intelligent use of space, the amount of room inside is particularly generous for this segment, with an outstanding 932 millimeters of legroom in the rear. It is fitted with independent McPherson strut suspension on both axles.
