Fact file: Chevrolet Cruze station wagon

The perfect match for families and high-octane individuals

  • Segment: Compact

The Cruze station wagon is the third body style of Chevrolet's top selling nameplate globally. Immediately recognizable as a new variant of the Chevrolet Cruze, it complements the popular sedan and hatchback versions.

Thanks to its large and flexible cargo space, the station wagon naturally appeals to families, but also to people who want a compact car with more carrying capacity to fit an active lifestyle. At 4,681 mm, the Cruze station wagon is slightly longer than the hatchback (4,514 mm) and sedan (4,603 mm) models. Load space ranges from 500 liters up to the window line in the rear to nearly 1,500 liters up to the roof with the rear seats folded down.

A choice of five powertrains is available. It comprises three gasoline engines with displacements of 1.4, 1.6 and 1.8 liters, as well as a 1.7L and a 2.0L diesel unit. The 1.4L gasoline engine, which is turbo-charged and coupled to a six-speed manual transmission, delivers 140 hp at 6,000 rpm and has a consumption of 5.8 liters per 100 km on a combined cycle.

The most fuel efficient engine, however, is the 1.7L diesel, which is offered in two variants with an output of 110 hp (81 kW) and 130 hp (96 kW), respectively. On a combined cycle, the former consumes 3.9 liters while emitting 104 g of CO2 per km. The 1.4L turbo gasoline as well as the 1.7L and the 2.0L diesel (manual transmission) engine come with Start/Stop.

The Cruze station wagon is available with keyless entry, enabling the driver to access the vehicle with the key safely tucked away in a bag or pocket. Additionally, the system allows the engine to be turned on or off by pressing a button without the need to insert the key into the ignition. A rearview camera is also available.

On higher trims, customers can select between two versions of the Chevrolet MyLink radio. Chevrolet MyLink technology aggregates content from smartphones onto a high-resolution, full-color touch-screen display and provides easy access to phone books, personal playlists, photo galleries and/or videos, and other stored media and data. MyLink radios offer access to specialized apps, such as BringGo navigation, voice recognition and streaming audio. Compatible devices can be connected via USB or Bluetooth.

Safety is a priority, which is why the station wagon is fitted with Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Traction Control (TC), Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brake Force Distribution, and six front and rear airbags. Higher trim levels incorporate a safety feature called Side Blind Zone Alert spots approaching vehicles in the side blind zone by means of radar.

Chevrolet continues to provide warranty, service and parts through its service network to all existing and new Cruze owners beyond 2015. Parts are expected to be available for a minimum of 10 years after the original sale of a new car.
