Fact file: Chevrolet Aveo 3D
A Picture of Dynamism
- Segment: Small
- In the model range since: June 2008
- Units sold in Europe until June 30, 2010: 56,700
The Aveo is a spacious, well equipped and favorably priced small car, available in three body versions, 3- and 5-door hatchbacks and a 4-door sedan. Aveo accounted for 21 percent of Chevrolet sales in Europe in 2009 and thereby continues to be among the most important models in Chevrolet Europe's range.
The most significant features of the Aveo three-door are its striking exterior, high-class interior and its even more efficient gasoline engines. The car has been in the European dealer showrooms since June 2008.
Buyers have a choice of two gasoline engines: a 1.2-liter unit, with two overhead camshafts and an output of 84 hp, and a 1.4-liter engine, which develops 101 hp. The bigger unit is available with automatic transmission. Both engines are frugal when it comes to fuel consumption. For example, the basic engine consumes just 5.5 liters per 100 kilometers.
The sporty Aveo 3-door hatchback bears Chevrolet's new design language, as characterized by the large horizontally split radiator grille with a body-colored crossbeam, and the brand logo sitting proudly in the middle. The dynamic details include large, curved clear-glass headlamps and fog lamps that project like spotlights from the lower part of the bumper. The engine hood follows the line of the radiator grille. Eye-catching contours that run to the A-pillar underline the sporty look.
Additional indicators in the side sections in front of the exterior mirrors add to the safety package. The side view is defined by the body's prominent shoulder lines and the dynamic crease that sweeps from the front to the rear door. The back of the car is dominated by the solid bumper and the round tail lamps in a clear-glass housing.
The interior also presents itself in a modern and inviting way. The instrument panel is clearly divided into four chrome-trimmed controls and a center console with striking air vents, a fully integrated audio unit and large, easy-to-operate air-conditioning dials. The smooth plastic surfaces and the soft-touch finish of the dashboard and the upper half of the door panel are particularly pleasant to the touch.
