ZURICH, June 24, 2016 – Chevrolet will be present at the Goodwood Festival of Speed 2016 with its entire range of iconic Corvette and Camaro series. Since 2015, Chevrolet, Cadillac, Opel and Vauxhall have been partners of the unique racing event, which takes place some 100 kilometres south of London. This celebration of a passion for cars, which attracted almost 200,000 visitors last year, is being held under the banner of “Full Throttle - The Endless Pursuit of Power” this year. Britain’s Lord March held the event for the first time in 1993 to commemorate a race organised by his grandfather in 1936.

The legendary Hill Climb Race is the highlight of the Goodwood Festival of Speed and a meet for the world’s top high-performance racing cars and drivers. Chevrolet has three cars competing in the 1.6-mile Hill Climb Race and contending for the prestigious prize:

  • Corvette C7.R, the racing car version of the Corvette Z06 is the strongest and technically most sophisticated Corvette ever – at 659 horsepower – and will compete in the Modern GT Racing Class
  • Corvette Grand Sport (466 horsepower), which perfectly combines Stingray power with Z06 features and handling, will compete in the Super Car Class.
  • Camaro ZL1, the fastest and most powerful Camaro of all time at 649 horsepower, will be racing in the First Glance Class.

At the Chevrolet Café, festival goers will have the opportunity to experience the fascinating Chevrolet brand and the iconic Corvette and Camaro up close over an area of some 2,000 square metres. The brand new Camaro ZL1 will be presented for the first time ever in Europe, and the Camaro convertible and Corvette Grand Sport will celebrate their debut in the UK. Classic Camaros and Corvettes from the 1960s will also be on display.

Florian Spinoly, Director of Marketing & Public Relations Chevrolet Europe: “Corvette and Camaro suit Goodwood perfectly. They are just as much as a legend as the festival itself and represent the blend of passion, power and racing that Goodwood stands for. It is the close proximity between cars, drivers and spectators which makes the festival special and unique.”
