Rüsselsheim. Harald Hamprecht (37), editor-in-chief of the trade magazine Automotive News Europe, will join Opel/Vauxhall on May 1, 2012. He is named General Director, Product & Corporate Communications. In this position, he will report to Johan Willems, Vice President Communications, Opel/Vauxhall.
Hamprecht has been working as a journalist during the past eleven years. He was chief reporter at auto, motor und sport (ams) as well as the editor of the four online portals that ams manages. Prior to that, he was a reporter at the trade magazine Automobilwoche and an editor at the investor magazine TeleBoerse.
Hamprecht graduated with a business administration degree from the University of Mainz. He already worked at Opel during his apprenticeship and then again after his college graduation in the Corporate Communications department.

At the same time, Stefan Weinmann is named General Director, Internal & Alliance Communications. In this position, he continues to be responsible for Internal Communications, Social Media and TV at Opel. He will additionally assume responsibility for any European Communications matters resulting from GM’s alliances. This includes in particular the recently announced alliance between GM and PSA PeugeotCitroen.
Volker Brien, to date General Director, Opel Product Communications, will return to the Marketing organization to take up a new position as Director, Alternative Propulsion / Mobility. This is a newly-created position in order to further promote the Ampera and other innovative propulsion technologies offered by Opel/Vauxhall. „I would like to thank Volker Brien for the excellent work he has done in the past three years, and I wish him all the best for his new position in the Marketing area“, said Johan Willems.
