DETROIT – General Motors Co. (NYSE: GM) today announced second quarter net income attributable to common stockholders of $0.2 billion, or $0.11 per diluted share. Strong core operating performance during the quarter was offset by a pre-tax net loss from special items of $1.3 billion, or $(0.47) per diluted share, and costs of $1.2 billion pre-tax primarily for recall-related repairs, or $(0.44) per diluted share.

DETROIT – The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety recently named 12 models from current and former GM brands to its first-ever list of recommended used vehicles for teen drivers.
DETROIT – General Motors Co. (NYSE: GM) sold 2,505,889 vehicles around the world in the second quarter of 2014, with year-over-year sales in the United States and China up 7 percent and 8 percent, respectively. Total sales were up one-half percent in the second quarter. In the first half, GM sold 4,921,928 vehicles, up 1.4 percent.
LIUZHOU – SAIC-GM-Wuling broke ground for its new R&D center and proving ground in Liuzhou, Guangxi, on July 12. The facilities, which are adjacent to the joint venture’s Baojun passenger car production base, will support the development of new vehicles for China.

SHANGHAI – Gustavo Céspedes has been appointed executive vice president of SAIC-GM-Wuling, General Motors China’s automotive joint venture with SAIC and Wuling Motors, effective August 1. He will be based at SAIC-GM-Wuling’s headquarters in Liuzhou, Guangxi, and report to Matt Tsien, GM executive vice president and president of GM China. Céspedes will succeed Raymond Bierzynski, who has been in the post since October 2012 and has elected to retire after 35 years with GM.
SHANGHAI – Chevrolet is celebrating the debut of its "gold bowtie" logo on Manchester United's 2014-15 season home shirt.
