Director, Human Resources
Robert Treme was appointed director of Human Resources for GM China, effective May 1, 2014. He is based at GM China’s headquarters in Shanghai.
Treme began his career with General Motors in 1999 as a labor relations representative in the Warren Transmission Plant in Warren, Michigan. The following year, he became administrator for Expatriate Policy Development – North America. In 2002, he was appointed human resources representative for Communications, and a year later for Corporate Human Resources.
In 2004, Treme took his first international assignment as regional human resources manager for Manufacturing, Quality and Powertrain at GM Asia Pacific in Seoul, Korea. Treme moved to Shanghai in 2007 as human resources manager for Sales & Marketing, Manufacturing, Powertrain, Communications and Government Relations at GM China.
He returned to Korea in 2008 as regional human resources manager for Manufacturing, Manufacturing Engineering and Facilities at GM Asia Pacific/GM International Operations. Prior to taking on his present position, Treme served as director of Human Resources Operations at GM Korea Company since 2010.
Treme has a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration and a master’s degree in human resources from the University of South Carolina.
