JIMMIE JOHNSON, NO. 48 LOWE’S CHEVROLET SS – COMMENTS AFTER NSCS PRACTICE 2 ON SATURDAY

WHAT DO YOU PLAN TO WORK ON IN THE FINAL PRACTICE SESSION?

“Oh, we’re just working on comfort. And you know, it’s different conditions now than what we’ll have during race time. So, we’re being smart about our changes. We were here and tested. And we tested at the end of the night when the race will finish. So, I was just out there running around on old tires trying a little comfort in the car and we’re making it more comfortable for the hotter conditions and we’ll see how that transfers to our later practice session. And then we’ll make some smart decisions tonight going into tomorrow’s race.”

KEVIN HARVICK, NO. 29 BUDWEISER CHEVROLET SS – THOUGHTS FOLLOWING THE FIRST PRACTICE SESSION ON SATURDAY

TALK ABOUT YOUR CAR IN THE FIRST PRACTICE SESSION AND HOW THE WEATHER CONDITIONS HAVE AFFECTED HOW IT RAN TODAY VERSUS YESTERDAY:
“Our car in general was really loose when we started, and it took us about half of the first practice to get the balance close enough to be able to really evaluate our car.  We got that fixed and feel a lot better about where we are right now than where we were at the start of practice. And feel like we are close and it’s obviously really hot today so everybody is sliding around a lot more than expected.”

YESTERDAY YOU WERE TALKING ABOUT DIFFERENT LINES TO TAKE FOR QUALIFYING.  HAVE YOU FOUND WHERE YOUR CAR IS COMFORTABLE? EITHER HIGH OR LOW OR IN THE MIDDLE?
“Well unfortunately everybody is six inches off the wall and we are about a foot off of the wall right now because we don’t need to slide into it in the first practice.  There is definitely a little time left to grab up there, but everybody is right up against the wall.”

CAN YOU TALK ABOUT WHAT YOU ARE GOING TO DO IN FINAL PRACTICE AND WHAT YOU ARE LOOKING FOR?
“Well now that we are close enough with the balance we can start fine-tuning on the car and I can start being a little bit more aggressive with my line and where I need to be up next to the wall.”

YESTERDAY YOU SAID YOU HAD A CAR TO WIN. DO YOU STILL FEEL THE SAME WAY TODAY?
“We are pretty close.  We weren’t when we started, but we are pretty close as we ended that practice and feel pretty comfortable with it.”
