The new Opel Corsa: cheeky, fun loving and chock full of value

  • Two body styles: the coupé-like three-door, plus family friendly five-door
  • 5 star NCAP rating, ESC, ABS and traction control as standard
  • Innovations available including AFL, customised colour-coding and Bluetooth® mobile phone connectivity with voice control
  • Over 10 million Corsas sold in Europe and counting
  • Refreshed and exciting design enhancements across the range

The highly successful Opel Corsa is Europe’s fresh, iconic small vehicle, and with everything under its skin updated in 2010 – including chassis, steering system and engine line-up - is ready to hit Australian shores in style. A redesigned face lends it a sportier, expressive look, making it firmly recognizable as a member of the latest Opel design family.

Offered locally at launch in two body styles, a coupe-like three-door and the family-friendly five-door model, the compact and youthful Opel Corsa boasts fresh design, sporty contours, sophisticated chassis and a high-quality interior with feel-good ambiance.

Already offering desirable technology such as AFL lighting and Bluetooth® connectivity with voice recognition plus auxiliary input, the Opel Corsa will be further enhanced with the introduction of USB connectivity at MY 13.

Plus, in recognition of the desirability for class-leading design from compact city car buyers, Opel Australia are pleased to offer the 3-door Corsa Colour Edition, featuring funky colour combinations, interior colour coded dial surrounds and with sports suspension available.

The Corsa was designed and engineered in Russelsheim, Germany and is manufactured in Eisenach, Germany and Zaragoza, Spain, offering German engineering excellence at an affordable price point.

Carrying the Opel design foundations introduced with the Insignia, the Corsa recently received a design refresh, lending the front fascia a sportier, expressive look. The sporty execution is achieved through the proportioning of the upper and lower grilles. The lower grille is wide and tall, visually widening the car. The proud Opel Blitz is integrated into a sculptured chromed bar, adding to the expressive appearance of the front of the Corsa.

Chiselled Opel eagle eyes accentuate the Corsa headlamps along with the wing-shaped daylight signature lamp that made its debut in the Insignia and is now featured in all Opel models. The internals of the lamp also display a jewel-like execution that enhances its sporty appearance. Fog lamp units with integrated chrome blade complete the expressive presence and character of the Corsa.

Building on the bold, sporty design of the Corsa range is the Corsa Colour Edition.  After much success in Europe, the Colour Edition will be introduced in Australia as a three-door hatch. The Colour Edition comes standard with a black painted roof, 16-inch alloy wheels and is available in range of bright exterior colours. The lively, expressive colours are carried through to the interior where the colour accents and instrument panel patterns create a two-tone effect, adding to the overall appearance of the car.

Due to its long wheelbase and wide track, both Corsa body styles offer plenty of interior space. Storage volume in the rear boot is 285 litres. Storage increases to 700 litres in the five-door model with the rear seats folded down and at maximum capacity, there is storage up to 1100 litres available.

Performance and Fuel Economy

The Corsa is powered by Opel’s 1.4 engine producing 74kW at 6000rpm and up to 130Nm of torque. The engine is matched to a five-speed manual transmission as standard, with a four-speed automatic transmission available as an option

The fourth-generation Corsa is distinguished by its excellent driving dynamics thanks to the Corsa’s torsionally rigid body, front subframe and torsion-beam rear axle.

The Corsa Sport pack, available as an option on the Corsa Colour Edition, enhances the driving experience further by combining a sports suspension with grippy 17-inch black gloss alloy wheels.

Euro NCAP awarded the Corsa five stars for passenger safety. The rating was achieved thanks to the torsionally rigid passenger cell with computer-calculated deformation zones and the ultra-high-strength steel sections in the doors. The restraint systems specifically tailored to the set up in the Corsa includes two-stage front airbags, dual side airbags and dual curtain airbags.  Opel’s patented Pedal Release System (PRS) and front active headrests are standard throughout the Corsa range.

Also available optionally, and unique to the light car segment, is Opel’s adaptive forward lighting, which includes dynamic curve lighting along with  auxiliary corner lighting, to allow greater visibility and safety when driving, and brings innovations never before seen in its segment at an affordable price.
