Empowerment essential for women development

“Doing it for ourselves.” This is the slogan of the General Motors South Africa’s (GMSA) Woman’s Council as they launched their future plans for the women in the company this week.

With females representing more than 13% of GMSA’s workforce, the Woman’s Council has an aggressive empowerment plan for female employees which include a mentoring programme, industry and product knowledge and strategic initiatives.

This year the women were not spoilt with flowers and chocolates for Women’s Day, but each received a multi-tool that easily fits into the handbag.
