Motors Sign MoU With General Organisation For Technical And Vocational Training
(GOTEVT)
Technical Training Institute close to completion in
Riyadh
Riyadh, Saudi Arabia – 25 September 2005
– His Excellency Dr. Ali Bin Nasser Al Ghufeis Governor, General
Organisation for Technical and Vocational Training (GOTEVT) signed a memorandum
of understanding with Terry Johnsson, Managing Director, General Motors Middle
East, which aims to create a real partnership between the two in training and
developing young Saudi Arabian Nationals in the automotive field.
The
first phase of this agreement will consist of launching the GM Vocational
Training programme at the Technical Training Institute in Riyadh in cooperation
with the GM University, future expansion will involve other institutes in the
Kingdom.
The new facility, which is located in the Second Industrial City
on the outskirts of Riyadh, is close to completion and will accept its first
students in November later this year. These students will consist of new
recruits from GM’s dealers in Saudi Arabia who will be sent for training
and development prior of taking up their new roles.
The MoU was signed
at the Technical Training Institute GOTEVT headquarters in Riyadh in the
presence of Dr. Fahd Al Tuwaijry, Vice Governor for Joint Training, GOTEVT and
Eng. Ahmed Abu Haliqah, General Manager, GOTEVT, who will supervise the program,
as well as GM’s dealers in Riyadh; Sheikh Ibrahim Aljomaih, VP of the
board of Directors and CEO of Aljomaih Automotive Company, Sheikh AbdulMohsen
Alissa Chairman of the Board of Alissa Automotive Company. Also present were
Adnan Al Khamis, Strategic Initiatives Manager for GM in KSA and Tarek Suleiman,
Human Resources Manager at Aljomaih.
