In early 2007, GM launched a new web resource for anyone interested in learning more about manufacturing and labor at the automaker. This site contains links to information about GM’s facilities, speeches on manufacturing, news releases and podcast interviews on various topics.
The site was officially launched May 31 with the release of the annual Harbour Report on productivity. In addition to a news release, the site included podcast interviews with several GM executives and Harbour President Ron Harbour.
In July, the site will feature GM’s Media Fact Book for Labor Negotiations. The fact book provides media an overview of labor issues facing the company and relevant data and information to help the media cover the contract talks with the UAW.
Future enhancements will include a section titled Manufacturing 101, which will provide people an overview of GM’s Global Manufacturing System and a deeper dive into how cars, trucks and crossovers are made.
