GM Daewoo sponsored the 2nd Korea Auto Science Camp, which involved 150 sixth-grade students from across Korea, in August 2006 at the Yong-in Future Leadership Center in Kyeonggi province.
The camp is uniquely designed to stimulate interest in science among some of the nation's most talented young people. It allows them to experience science first hand and learn how it applies to today's motor vehicles.
Camp participants were introduced to the many scientific principles involved in the design and working of today's motor vehicles, including propulsion systems, transmissions, brakes, suspensions, steering and safety technology. In addition, they received hands-on experience making their own car models and learned about GM Daewoo's strategy for the development of the next generation of motor vehicles powered by hydrogen.
Participants in the four-day camp, which was free of charge, were selected based on the recommendations of school principals. GM Daewoo sponsored the 1st Korea Auto Science Camp in August 2005. It plans to make the Auto Science Camp an annual activity for primary school students.
