The GM Daewoo Employee Foundation was established in July 2005 to promote GM Daewoo's long-term organized contribution to society. GM Daewoo is realizing its vision of a sharing society through its Employee Volunteer Program, which actively encourages volunteerism, and its Employee Donation Program, in which employees can donate a set amount of their monthly wages to the company's welfare activities.
The GM Daewoo Employee Foundation supports the underprivileged, social welfare and public organizations, and the volunteer activities of its employees. It also addresses the needs of underprivileged members of the community, such as the disabled, solitary elderly, needy teenagers and poor children by hosting parties for senior citizens who live alone, making donations of kimchi, providing lunch to children in need, supporting free medical care and covering health insurance expenses, etc. The foundation also donates vehicles, offers free repair services to welfare facilities, provides everyday goods and offers emergency maintenance services to social welfare and public organizations.
The GM Daewoo Employee Foundation Donation program supports welfare institutions and neighbors in need. GM Daewoo and its employees contribute through a 1:1 matching program, in which the company matches donations of employees to the GM Daewoo Employee Foundation. GM Daewoo aims to bring hope and happiness to those in need.
GM Daewoo helps needy neighbors through GM Daewoo Volunteer Plus International (GM Daewoo VPI). The program was developed to provide organized and proactive support to the volunteer work of GM Daewoo employees. Based on the GM VPI global volunteer program, it has been localized for Korea. Employees throughout GM Daewoo can make contributions through the GM Daewoo Employee Foundation. GM Daewoo donates US$250 to each non-government organization to which a GM Daewoo employee or team has provided more than 50 hours of volunteer work. Under the slogan of Sharing Love with GM Daewoo, GM Daewoo VPI will continue to grow along with the local community.
Employees and teams throughout GM Daewoo can participate in the GM Daewoo Volunteers, which makes contributions to the needy through the GM Daewoo Employee Volunteer Program and the annual GM Daewoo Day for Volunteering. The GM Daewoo Volunteers shares a special relationship with needy neighbors in welfare facilities and facilities for the disabled and elderly. It also supports senior citizens living alone and underprivileged children. Systemized volunteer activities include painting walls, carrying out household repairs, giving haircuts, purifying water, offering sanitation services and providing mentoring.
