

Ki-Joon Yu was appointed senior vice president of Manufacturing Operations at GM DAEWOO Auto & Technology on January 1, 2008.
From 2005 to 2006, Yu held the post of vice president, in charge of global engineering, at the GM Technical Center in Warren, Michigan. In 2007, global and GM North America dimensional engineering became part of his work portfolio.
Yu was appointed vice president of the GM DAEWOO Technical Center in October 2002, when GM DAEWOO was launched. From 2004 to 2005, he was in charge of engineering for GM Asia Pacific and represented the region on the Global Engineering Leadership Council (GELC). He worked with engineering centers at GM DAEWOO, as well as in Australia and China to drive teamwork, identify work-sharing opportunities, and focus on best practices and common metrics. In addition, he helped integrate and leverage the GM Technical Center in Bangalore, India, with other regional engineering centers.
Yu joined DAEWOO Motor Co. in 1986 and worked in a wide range of departments, including parts development, parts quality evaluation, planning and technology development. He served as managing director of engineering at GM DAEWOO’s predecessor between 1999 and 2002.
Yu has bachelor’s and master’s degrees in metal engineering from Seoul National University, and a doctorate degree in material science and engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
