

Michael A. Grimaldi was appointed president and chief executive officer of GM Daewoo Auto & Technology Co., effective August 1, 2006. He also is a member of the GM Asia Pacific Strategy Board.
Grimaldi began his GM career in 1976, and advanced through positions in vehicle planning, corporate finance, engineering/manufacturing project management, and assistant to the vice chairman.
In 1987, Grimaldi was appointed chief financial officer at Pontiac Division, and Oldsmobile Division in 1988. He was named marketing manager for the Oldsmobile Division in 1990, and finance director for the North American marketing divisions in 1992.
Grimaldi was appointed executive director of planning for North American Operations (NAO) and a member of the NAO Strategy Board in 1993. In this role, he also served as the executive in charge for GM relations with Toyota Motor Corp. In 1995, Grimaldi was promoted to GM vice president and vehicle line executive for full-size pickup trucks and sport-utility vehicles.
In 1999, he was named general manager of field sales, service, and parts for GM's U.S. operations. Grimaldi was appointed president and general manager of General Motors of Canada Ltd. in 2002. He also was a member of the North America Strategy Board.
Grimaldi earned a bachelor's degree in engineering from Purdue University (1974) and an M.B.A. from Stanford University (1976). He also attended the Massachusetts Institute of Technology program for senior executives (1987).
Grimaldi is a member of the board of directors of Think Detroit PAL, which promotes educational and recreational opportunities for the city's youth. He has served on the Stanford Graduate School of Business and the School of Engineering advisory boards. He is also an active supporter of the Make-a-Wish Foundation, Hospice of Michigan, Angel's Place, the Cranbrook Educational Community and FIRST Robotics Competition.
In 2002, Grimaldi was selected co-chair of the Canadian Automotive Partnership Council, with the mission to strengthen the long-term competitiveness of the Canadian automotive industry. Grimaldi has also served as chair of the Canadian Vehicle Manufacturers Association and is a member of the boards of directors of Saab Automobile, Canadian XM Satellite Radio, the GM-Suzuki CAMI joint venture and the Canadian Council of Chief Executives.
