Gerhard Hintermeier appointed Director of New Transmission Production Plant
Rüsselsheim. Gerhard Hintermeier has been appointed Director of Opel Powertrain GmbH's new transmission production plant in Rüsselsheim, Germany. Series production start-up of the completely new six-speed manual gearbox is scheduled for the end of 2002. Approximately 300 employees will produce up to 230,000 units each year in three working shifts.   more...

Opel Vectra Best Family Car Tested
Rüsselsheim. In Euro NCAP's most recent round of crash tests, the Opel Vectra achieved 30 points - the best result of the five family cars tested. The results of the tenth test phase were presented on Tuesday, June25, at a Euro NCAP (European New Car Assessment Programme) press conference at Germany's "Bundesanstalt für Straßenwesen (BASt)" (Federal Road Authority) in Bergisch Gladbach.   more...

First podium finish for Opel and Alain Menu
Alain Menu delivered Opel's first podium finish in round four of the 2002 DTM series at Sachsenring today. The Swiss ace, twice a champion in the British Touring Car Championship, proved both his and Opel's ability to challenge for honours in Europe's fastest saloon car championship with an excellent third place finish in the feature race, finishing second in the earlier qualifying race.   more...
