Carl-Peter Forster to Head Opel
Rüsselsheim. The Supervisory Board of Adam Opel AG today appointed Carl-Peter Forster (46) as the company's new Chairman and Managing Director, effective April 2001. Forster, who holds degrees in economics and engineering, had been serving as Management Board member in charge of Manufacturing with BMW AG.   more...

The Fastest Corsa Ever
Rüsselsheim. The abbreviation "GSi" - always a synonym for "fun to drive" in the history of Opel's sports models - has been revived for the all-new Corsa. The new model has a top speed of 202 km/h and accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in only 9.0 seconds, making the GSi the fastest production Corsa ever.   more...

The Most Economical Car in its Class
Rüsselsheim/Wiesbaden. With regard to its operating costs the new Corsa can be considered the most economical vehicle in its class. The new model owes this to a great extent to its range of ultra-modern and highly economical ECOTEC gasoline engines. All four comply with the Euro 4 emission limits which do not take effect until 2005.   more...

"Most Fun" Car of Geneva Motor Show
Geneva/Rüsselsheim. The Opel Astra Coupé OPC X-TREME was named "Most Fun" car of the 71st International Motor Show in Geneva. The award, presented by the American car magazine, AutoWeek, was handed over to Opel's Director of Design, Hans Seer, by AutoWeek chief editor Dutch Mandel.   more...
