German Chancellor Schröder and State Prime Minister Koch are guests of honor
Rüsselsheim. With a symbolic flash of lightning, Opel will open the world's most modern automobile manufacturing plant in Rüsselsheim, Germany on February 5, 2002, in the presence of Germany's Chancellor Gerhard Schröder, the Prime Minister of the German State of Hesse, Roland Koch and the Mayor of the town of Rüsselsheim, Stefan Gieltowski. Opel has invested 750 million Euro in this new production facility, where production of the all-new, third-generation Vectra model has already begun. The plant sets new standards in quality, flexibility, productivity and ergonomics, and has a production capacity of up to 270,000 automobiles annually. "The new production plant and the introduction of the all-new Vectra are two major milestones for Opel", said Carl-Peter Forster, Opel's Chairman and Managing Director.
