Jan Jozef Brems was appointed Managing Director of Adam Opel AG's facilities in Bochum, Germany, effective May 1, 2000. Opel produces the Opel Astra and Zafira models in Bochum.

Mr. Brems was born in Varendonk, Belgium, on February 13, 1950. He began his career at Opel in the Manufacturing Engineering Department in 1977 after receiving a diploma in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Leuven, Belgium. He later completed his secondary studies at the General Motors Institute in Flint, Michigan.

Upon his return to Belgium he worked as a manager in the Layout Station at Opel, Antwerpen, and later as a production manager in Plant I. In 1987 he was named Manager, Manufacturing Engineering at Vauxhall Motors, Ellesmere Port, England, a job he held until 1991.

He returned to Opel, Antwerpen, in 1991 as Final Assembly Manager and was promoted to Personnel Manager there in 1993. From 1995 to 1998 he held the position of Assistant Manufacturing Director before becoming Production Director in 1998.

He was named Production Director at Plant I in Bochum on December 1, 1999, a job he held until receiving his current assignment.

Jan Jozef Brems is married and has two daughters.
