TAHOE Z71 CONCEPT - ALL DRESSED UP TO GO ANYWHERE!
LAS VEGAS - Some vehicles claim to be sport utilities, yet are incapable of venturing off the beaten path. That's not the case with the Chevy Tahoe Z71 concept, which debuts at this year's SEMA show. The Z71 concept takes all of the features that are available on the production Tahoe Z71, and adds even more functionality and utility.
"Our research shows that Tahoe customers truly use their vehicle for what it was intended to do, and that's to go anywhere, anytime," said Dan Ahearn, Tahoe assistant brand manager.
The Z71's rugged off-road ability is accentuated by a specially tuned off-road suspension that uses upgraded springs, shocks, jounce bumpers and stabilizer bar. Tahoe's off-road capability is further emphasized by the skid plates, which help protect vital powertrain components during arduous off-road ventures. Enhancing the outdoor experience is a brush bar with a winch on the front of the vehicle. Tubular side steps make entering and exiting the vehicle much easier, and the roof rack, similar to the production Z71, has an integrated roller bar for easy loading. Xenon wheel flares are molded onto the vehicle for a more unitized appearance.
Inside, this Tahoe makes getting to the ultimate destination a study in comfort and convenience. Four bucket seats have been added. The center console is removable and can be used as a back pack. The steering wheel, sidewall and door trim are covered in material from a durable and reliable outdoor outfitter.
The Tahoe Z71 also features OnStar, an integrated Delphi Navigation System radio, black-on-white gauges and custom foot pedals. A General Motors Service Parts Operations (GMSPO) Highway Safety Kit is also included. An AC/DC air compressor quickly and effortlessly blows up air mattresses, beach balls or anything else that needs inflating.
Tahoe Z71 rides on unique 32-inch circumference tires mounted on 18-inch custom wheels. Power is supplied by a Vortec V8 engine and is transferred to all wheels via a four-speed automatic transmission.
"The Tahoe Z71 concept is part of Chevrolet's ongoing effort to meet its customers needs for function and versatility, and to maintain Tahoe's ever-growing popularity among true offroaders," Ahearn said.
