Driving Forward

People first. That’s always been the way Saturn does business – from the way we sell vehicles to the way we take care of our customers after the sale.

Saturn’s commitment to the customer won’t change, nor will its role within General Motors. Saturn will continue to go head-to-head with import brands and bring new customers into GM.

What is changing at Saturn is the product. We are now strengthening our commitment to our customers by bringing to market a series of new vehicles that go perfectly with the Saturn brand: thoughtful, emotionally compelling designs and fun-to-drive performance.

New designs, rapid growth

Saturn’s fresh design direction will create a strong family look across the entire portfolio. The new style debuts with the Sky roadster and will be seen on all of Saturn’s upcoming new products, including a midsize sedan foreshadowed by the Aura concept vehicle. A large crossover SUV will complete Saturn’s 2006 calendar year additions, doubling Saturn product line to six offerings.

Saturn’s new look

Seven GM Design studios from around the world contributed to the product designs that will make up Saturn’s new portfolio.

Every aspect of vehicle design – exterior, interior, materials, and color – was selected to give the Saturn brand a more contemporary and upscale image for the brand.

“The new Saturns convey a sense of technical harmony. The exteriors are crisp and taut, with a strong influence from global design trends,” said Ed Welburn, vice president of GM Design. “In the interior, the choice of fabrics, grains and textures help emphasize richness and sophistication.”

The visual brand character cues include a strong front end with a pronounced fender peak, and a bold, chrome bar that carries an integrated Saturn badge. Expressive lighting and chrome accents also mark the exterior, while wood and bright accents add upscale touches to interiors. Attention to detail, such as exterior and interior interfaces, is emphasized.

Fun to drive

GM’s commitment to Saturn can also be seen in the vehicle engineering resources that will be use to bolster the Saturn line up.

“Vehicle architectures and technology from around the world will come together to ensure that the new Saturns drive as good as they look,” said Saturn General Manager Jill Lajdziak. “ The quick and agile Saturn Sky roadster is a clear example of the commitment to combine great looks with great performance.

Still Saturn

Saturn General Manager Jill Lajdziak noted that Saturn will maintain its steadfast commitment to customer sales and service satisfaction, and also will remain committed to its primary strategic role of targeting import intenders. Higher levels of refinement, in both the interior and exterior of new vehicles, will help create new consideration for the brand among those buyers, Lajdziak said.

“Most customers recognize Saturn as a responsible brand that balances quality, customer-friendly innovation, safety and the environment,” Lajdziak said. “To those brand pillars, we are adding the characteristics of a charismatic brand with elements such as great design and fun-to-drive road manners.”
