Jan-Åke Jonsson
Managing Director of
Saab
Jan-Åke Jonsson has been Managing Director of Saab since
April 1, 2005. He had previously been GM Europe Regional Executive Director,
Nordic, Benelux and Switzerland.
Jonsson was born in Valdemarsvik,
Sweden, on September 18, 1951. He holds a Bachelor degree in Business
Administration from Uppsala University.
Jan-Åke Jonsson first joined
Saab-Scania Car Division in Nykoeping, Sweden, in 1973, and held a variety of
positions until becoming Director, Aftersales & Services of Saab in
Trollhattan, Sweden, in 1990. In 1991, he was promoted to Vice
President, Sales, Marketing & Aftersales for Saab Cars USA, in Atlanta,
U.S.A., and, in 1993, he became Vice President, Quality & Customer
Satisfaction of Saab in Trollhattan, Sweden. In 1995, he became Director,
Vehicle Line Saab 9-5 there.
Two years later, he was appointed Vehicle
Line Executive, Trucks & Vans, for GM International Operations/GM Europe in
Rüsselsheim, Germany. In 2000, Jonsson became Lead Vehicle Line Executive
and Executive Director Commercial Vehicles for GM Europe in Rüsselsheim.
In 2002, he re-joined Saab in Gothenburg, as Vice President, Sales &
Marketing Europe, Asia & Pacific. A year later, he was named Vice
President, Saab Sales & Marketing Europe, as well as Executive Director, GM
Nordic region. In 2005, Jonsson was appointed GM Europe Regional Executive
Director, Nordic, Benelux and Switzerland, the position he occupied before being
appointed to his current one.
