Jamal N. El-Hout

GM Europe Vice President, Product Planning & Commercial Vehicle Operations

Jamal N. El-Hout has been Vice President, Product Planning since August 1, 2000. In this capacity, he is responsible for coordinating all of GM's business, strategic, and portfolio planning in Europe. He also serves as a member of the Europe Strategy Board. In May 2005, El-Hout additionally assumed responsibility for Commercial Vehicle Operations.

El-Hout was born in Lebanon on November 21, 1954. He received a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics at the Detroit Institute of Technology in 1974, a Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering at Iowa State University in 1977 and a Master's degree in Management at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1990.

He joined General Motors in 1977, and held various positions in Engineering, Quality, and Vehicle Development and Planning, before being named Engineering Director, Chassis and Powertrain, GM Truck Group in November 1996. From October 1998 until August 2000 El-Hout served as Group Director, Planning and Customer Group at GM Powertrain.
