Brent Dewar has been Vice President, Sales, Marketing and Aftersales, for GM Europe since June 1, 2008. In this role, he leads GM’s European brands in the areas of sales, marketing, brand integration, aftersales, and the future direction of the distribution network. Additionally, he has operational responsibility for GM Europe's national sales companies. Dewar is a member of the GM European Strategy Board and a member of the Saab Automobile Board.

Brent Dewar (53), a native of Vancouver, Canada, received his Bachelor of Commerce degree (BCOMM) in 1978 from the University of British Columbia, with a major in Transportation. In 1986, Dewar received his Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from York University. Dewar became a U.S. citizen in 2004.

Dewar joined General Motors of Canada in 1978, serving for 10 years in a variety of management positions in Sales, Service, Strategic Planning, Marketing and Finance. He came to the U.S. in 1988, joining Chevrolet as Manager of Strategic Planning. He also held several field assignments with Chevrolet before being appointed Executive Director, Sales, Service and Marketing for General Motors do Brasil, based in Sao Caetano do Sul, Brazil.

From April 2000 to March 2003, Dewar was General Manager for the GM’s Northeast Region, based in New York. Subsequently, served for two years as General Manager of Chevrolet, launching an unprecedented 10 products in 20 months' time, as well as the largest advertising campaign in the division’s history, Chevrolet: An American Revolution.

In 2005, Dewar was appointed GMNA Vice President of Marketing and Advertising, responsible for the marketing of General Motors’ corporate messages, as well as the advertising for its eight different vehicle brands in the U.S. and global marketing responsibility for the Chevrolet brand.

From March 1, 2006, Dewar served as General Motors North America Vice President of Field Sales, Service and Parts and was also responsible for Fleet and Commercial, Order Fulfillment and Marketing Sales Support groups.
