Cadillac CTS Now to Hit Europe

  • First deliveries by this spring
  • New flagship model launches performance range

After a successful commercial launch in the USA, the Cadillac CTS is now set to cross the Atlantic; built in Lansing, Michigan, the first demonstration models of the dynamic luxury sedan with its bold, accented contours and distinctive chiseled form are already on their way to European dealers. Buyers can now order the visually unmistakable rear-wheel-drive model with two smooth-running six-cylinder engines and outputs of 181 and 218 hp respectively. Deliveries of the mid-size sedan (length/width/height: 4828/1795/1441 millimeters) will begin by the end of March.

The newcomer got off to an extremely promising start in the USA, selling almost 38,000 units in 2002. This was almost four times as many as the Cadillac CTS's predecessor, the Catera, sold in the previous year. While the industry in general experienced a downturn, the luxury marque managed to increase total sales on its domestic market by over 16 percent compared to 2001.

And Cadillac is not just pushing its performance in terms of sales; this fall, the CTS range will be enhanced with a high-performance flagship model that will at the same time herald a new range of performance luxury cars. The first representative of this so-called "V-Series" is a 350 hp+ CTS powered by a 5.7-liter V8 engine. The chassis and brakes were adapted to the high performance. The sophisticated sports sedan's exterior is defined by the larger air intake at the front and the dual exhaust with visible tips. Initially, this high-performance CTS will only be available in the USA.
