Pontiac Aztek's Breakthrough Versatility

DETROIT - Aztek is conceived to be the most flexible and adaptable vehicle on the road. It presents a wide, low, and flat load floor, remarkably efficient packaging and a host of versatile features.

Cavernous Cargo-Carrying Capability
Simply dropping the tailgate configures the cargo hold to carry four full 4' x 8' sheets of 3/4-inch building materials. Removing the easy release back seats opens up a whopping 93.5 cubic feet of cargo space to swallow inflatable boats, camping necessities, or sports gear galore. A dozen securely attached cargo anchors, a rear convenience net, and storage compartments built into the side trim and tailgate keep loose ends under control.

Tailgate Party to Go
Molded-in seating is provided in the tailgate to support all kinds of fun. A premium Pioneer 10-speaker system with a 190-watt amplifier is offered to amplify and broadcast musical accompaniment through extended-range speakers aimed out the rear of the vehicle. Audio controls are located in the rear cargo area of the vehicle so there is no need to interrupt your activities by walking around to the front radio controls.

A personal dual-action console/cooler is standard in the Aztek GT to provide insulated storage for a dozen 12-ounce soda cans or to store all your cassettes and CDs. The console/cooler's dual-action handle is used both for carrying and to latch the container securely in place between the front seats.

Interior Comfort and Convenience
Bucket seats and a center console are standard in front. Dual cupholders and power outlets are provided along with a bottom mat and molded-in coinholder. In back, there's a choice between a 50/50-split bench seat or dual captains seats. The rear 50/50-split bench seats are lightweight modular designs that can independently be folded, flipped forward or removed to create extra space on demand. The rear seat captain chairs have fold-down seat backs that also recline and are easily removable.

Another nifty option for Aztek GTs is a pair of utility packs that nest in each front door trim panel. Perfect for stowing a cell phone, camera, CD player or other gear, it's easily removable so it can be carried with you as you leave the vehicle.

Removable/Reconfigurable Cargo Systems
Two optional cargo systems are offered to help Aztek owners outfit their vehicles according to personal needs. A sliding rear cargo tray system is designed to help load and transport up to 400 pounds of home-improvement materials or recreation equipment. This tray rolls onto the open tailgate for convenient loading and unloading, then rolls forward easily where it securely latches in place. A dual-door pop-up unit on the right side of the tray is subdivided with nets into three separate compartments which are perfect for holding your gear in place. On the left side, there's access to a hidden storage compartment beneath the cargo tray. A grab handle and built-in roller wheels are provided to help easily remove this tray from the vehicle for garage storage.

The second cargo option is a reconfigurable cargo net system. Up to 35 pounds can be carried adjacent to each rear side panel. Two larger cross-vehicle nets are rated at 100 pounds apiece. By using the floor-mounted anchor hooks, this system can be reconfigured 22 different ways.
