Pontiac Launches Innovative Video Billboard Advertising For New Grand Prix And GTO
DETROIT - Pontiac, the excitement division of General Motors, will launch an innovative video billboard advertisement in New York City beginning April 1, in time for the New York International Auto Show. The billboard spans an entire block on Broadway between 51st and 52nd streets, and will feature streaming video and print ads for the new 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix and GTO.
The billboard, measuring 25.6 feet high by 202 feet wide, is the only projected-image billboard in the Times Square area. Two-thirds of the billboard will feature a static ad and one-third will feature a custom video that will loop continuously beginning at sunset each evening. The billboard will be visible to nearly 1.5 million people who pass through Times Square each day and the 1.3 million expected attendees of the New York International Auto Show at the Javits Center.
The video billboard ad supports Pontiac's "Fuel for the Soul" advertising campaign, using fast-paced footage of cars in action - shifting gears, steering hard, gauge needles dancing, engine components pumping and the vehicles taking on aggressive performance maneuvers - all intended to help the viewer feel the thrill and power of the Pontiac driving experience -- the emotional connection between driver and machine.
"This totally unique video billboard offers an opportunity to see Pontiac vehicles in action like never before," said Mark-Hans Richer, Pontiac advertising director. "We're very excited about showing off our two newest products prominently in The Big Apple."
This ninth-generation Grand Prix is a sporty sedan with dynamic handling and control, plus power without hesitation - it delivers on the concept of 'total performance' like never before. The 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix will be available in dealer showrooms in spring 2003.
The GTO - also known as "The Legend" and "The Great One" - has been called the most famous muscle car in high-performance automobile history. Production of the 2004 Pontiac GTO is scheduled to begin in September 2003.
Pontiac is a division of General Motors Corporation (NYSE: GM). The division markets the Vibe, Sunfire, Grand Am, Grand Prix, Aztek, Montana and Bonneville - and will bring back the legendary GTO later this year.
General Motors the world's largest vehicle manufacturer, designs, builds and markets cars and trucks worldwide, and has been the global automotive sales leader since 1931. More information on GM can be found at www.gm.com.
