What

Team Cadillac's CTS-V race cars are based on the production Cadillac CTS-V performance luxury sedan. The street and race versions are powered by GM small-block V-8 engines and share common body structures, front and rear suspensions, steering systems, differentials and half-shafts. GM engineers who developed the production CTS-V were directly involved in creating the CTS-V race cars.

When

Team Cadillac competes in the GT division in the 11-race SPEED World Challenge, America's top production-based road racing championship. Races feature a standing start and are a maximum of 50 minutes in length.

Where

SPEED World Challenge races on natural road courses and temporary circuits. The 2005 schedule includes eight road racing venues (Sebring, Fla.; Atlanta; Lexington, Ohio; Lakeville, Conn.; Sonoma, Calif.; Portland, Ore.; Bowmanville, Ont.; and Monterey, Calif.). The series will race on two new street circuits in 2005 (St. Petersburg, Fla., and Denver) and one airport course (Cleveland).

Why

Cadillac is racing to sell cars and to enhance the image of Cadillac among influential consumers. The program's goal is to build enthusiasm for Cadillac among dealers, employees and customers.

How

Many of the same GM parts, people and facilities were used in the development of the production CTS-V and the CTS-V race cars. The CTS-V race cars were developed by GM Racing in conjunction with Cadillac and GM Performance Division, an in-house center of expertise that creates enthusiast-oriented versions of production models. The CTS-V was the first vehicle to wear the high-performance Cadillac V-series badge.
