GMC Trucks Provide The Professional Grade Functionality Needed To Conquer Home Improvement Challenges

Sponsorship of home and garden shows includes national sweepstakes and ride & drive events at select venues

DETROIT - To further align GMC's family of professional grade trucks with home improvement enthusiasts, GMC will sponsor more than 20 home and garden shows across the nation beginning in January through the end of September 2003.

"Once again, GMC will continue the successful GMC Pro Tour- - illustrating how our trucks provide the versatility and functionality families need to achieve their home remodeling and gardening dreams," said Steve Rosenblum, GMC director of advertising and sales promotion. "Entering our fourth year, the Pro Tour partnership promises to further connect GMC with consumers who demand professional grade capabilities and excellence."

The GMC family lineup will be displayed at each show highlighting various household tasks such as remodeling, landscaping or decorating. Vehicle information will be available in the display area and product specialists will be on-hand to answer questions. Visitors to the GMC display will receive a free "house gift."

Show attendees will have the opportunity to take the Pro Grade Challenge by visiting the GMC area and interacting with the vehicles to identify the attributes that best fit their lifestyle. Those up for the challenge will be entered into a national sweepstakes with the opportunity to win a first-place prize $5,000 Home Depot gift card or a grand prize $10,000 Home Depot gift card.

Additionally, in Houston; Atlanta; Miami; Phoenix, Ariz.; and Anaheim, Calif. consumers will get the opportunity to test drive a GMC during special ride and drive events. "We're using experiential marketing in select venues, to give consumers first-hand experience with our trucks," said Rosenblum. "After getting behind the wheel, we're certain home 'do-it-yourselfers' will recognize just how our trucks will help them get the job done."

Making its home and garden show debut in select cities is the all-new 2004 Envoy XUV. The most adaptable sport utility vehicle ever, XUV offers unprecedented levels of versatility with a host of innovative features including: a power-sliding roof that allows transport of tall items ranging from refrigerators to small trees; a Next-Generation Midgatetm that folds to create an extended cargo area wide enough to fit multiple 4x8 foot building sheets; a drop or swing tailgate with a power window; and an all-weather cargo area that includes a QuickDrain system allowing easy cleaning with a simple garden hose after hauling wet or messy items like topsoil.

Along with the home and garden events, GMC will promote Pro Tour and its affiliation with home improvement enthusiasts by targeting lifestyle web sites in line with GMC's target audience. To learn more about GMC or for a copy of the Pro Tour schedule, go to gmc.com.
