GMC Long Format Commercial Celebrates Division's Centennial Anniversary
DETROIT - GMC Division has created a long-format commercial that celebrates GMC's 100-year
anniversary in 2002 and educates viewers about the truck company's Professional Grade trucks, sport
utility vehicles and vans.
The long-format commercial is 28-minutes long and is airing on cable television outlets such as The
Learning Channel, Discovery, Travel, Comedy, FoodTV, Home and Garden, Sci-Fi, DIY (Do-It-Yourself
channel), History, F/X, TNN and USA. The spot is scheduled to air more than 300 times, between Feb.
26 and May 26, 2002.
"This longer format of advertising is effective for marketing complex products like cars and trucks,
because it gives consumers more in-depth information than can be shared during a 30-second TV spot,"
explains Mark-Hans Richer, director of advertising and sales promotion for GMC.
Throughout the ad viewers are encouraged to call 1-866-4GMC-PROS for more information on GMC
products. They can also visit www.gmctv.com to enter a sweepstakes to win a new GMC Sierra Denali
with Quadrasteer. Consistent with GMC's "The Professionals" campaign, the long format ad utilizes
GMC engineers to provide an added dimension to what Professional Grade really means.
In addition to highlighting the industry-leading features of many of GMC's current and future trucks, the
long-format commercial also walks through the company's 100-year history. Viewers learn the division's
rich heritage, which dates back to founders Max and Morris Grabowsky, and discover that GMC industry
firsts and achievements have marked each decade of the division's existence.
Another way GMC is celebrating its centennial is with the publication of an official history book called
GMC: The First 100 Years by John Gunnell. The book chronicles GMC's progress through the years and
includes hundreds of vibrant color photographs of historic, current and concept GMC trucks. It will be
available in mid-March and is available for order from the publisher, Krause Publications, at
www.krausebooks.com or by phone at 1-888-457-2873.
According to Lynn Myers, Pontiac-GMC general manager, "As we look toward our next 100 years we're
poised for success, with the strongest lineup of trucks in the history of the brand. We plan to continue
making professional grade trucks, SUVs and vans that exceed customers' expectations."
