1997 Camaro Body Structure


All Camaro models share a body structure that includes a fully unitized steel frame, steel-reinforced composite body panels and honeycomb-constructed front and rear bumpers for added strength and durability. Extensive anti-corrosion measures include the use of composites, two-side-galvanized steel and electrode position primer (ELPO).

Convertible models are manufactured online at the Ste. Therese assembly plant. The convertible’s rigid body structure provides a solid foundation that minimizes flexing, squeaks and rattles, while providing precise handling and steering.
