Dear Media Friend:
Another year has passed and we now find ourselves heading into the next century of Chevrolet. From our vantage point, the future looks to be just as exciting and promising as our past. Maybe that's one reason why Chevrolet is America's most trusted and enduring brand.
Among the biggest news for 2000 is the introduction of the all-new Chevy Impala and Monte Carlo. We invite everyone to once again "See the USA" in these modern day versions of some all-time classics.
On the truck side, we follow up the successful launch of the all-new Silverado with the introduction of brand new Tahoe and Suburban models off the same platform, and an available fourth door on Silverado Extended Cab models.
We've endeavored in the past to provide you a Product Information Guide that is both comprehensive and useful. We've listened intently to your feedback to find ways to have it best serve your needs and this year is no exception. You'll find that we've streamlined the vehicle sections and enhanced both their readability and usability. We hope you like what we've done with it. Following are some key highlights of note regarding our products and the Chevy Communications department:
Impala/Monte Carlo
The Impala is back! Impala is the best selling Chevrolet nameplate ever, thanks to Chevrolet embracing a "magic formula" - offering a great looking car with performance, quality, safety and comfort, all at a Chevrolet price. The 2000 Impala is a by-product of that magic formula, but for today's marketplace.
Impala takes on the road with inspired confidence, with the power, handling and braking you might expect from a more costly sport sedan. And the RoomFirst™ Design process affords an inviting full-size, true six-passenger cabin with amenities usually reserved for more expensive cars.
Chevrolet has rekindled the joy of driving in the new Impala. It's the right car, at the right price, in tune with the wants and needs of mainstream America.
When it comes to driving, that's what the new Monte Carlo is about. And nowhere is that more evident than on the track. Monte Carlo has won four consecutive Winston Cup Drivers' Championships and the Winston Cup Manufacturers' Cup in '95, '96 and '98.
One of the essentials for success on the track is a good body design - and the all-new Monte Carlo has it with dramatic styling. Other highlights include a NASCAR-inspired gauge cluster, power rack-and-pinion steering and larger 4-wheel disc antilock brakes, all wrapped in a pulse-quickening, racetrack-inspired performance
driving experience.
Suburban/Tahoe
The 2000 model year also brings about the launch of the new Suburban and Tahoe. The 2000 Suburban is the product of an evolution that began when the first one was introduced back in 1935, pioneering what is today the full-size sport utility segment. The new Suburban is more comfortable, more capable, offers more safety and security features and is environmentally focused. In sum, it's the right fit for today's world.
In addition to side air bags, a coil spring rear suspension, larger brakes and a roomier interior, the 2000 Tahoe debuts with available third-row seating.
As we draw closer to the launch of these two vehicles, we will send the respective sections and press releases for your use.
Silverado Four-Door Extended Cab Model
Following on the heels of last year's much-anticipated launch of the Chevy Silverado, the 2000 model year adds the flexibility and convenience of an available driver-side rear fourth door on Silverado Extended Cab models.
