Indianapolis 500 Festival Board Members Drive In Style With Chevrolet Camaro Z28 Convertibles
INDIANAPOLIS, IN–
As it has 12 previous times, a
Chevrolet will be pacing the famed Indianapolis 500. Adding to the color and
excitement of this year’s race activities, Chevrolet will also be providing the
Indianapolis 500 Festival Board of Directors with a fleet of 2002 Camaro Z28
convertibles to use during their various "Month of May" activities.
The Festival board members picked up their
vehicles on April 10 and will have use of the Camaros through the end of the
race weekend. The identical Z28 convertibles feature a Sebring Silver exterior
and Ebony leather interior. Selection of Camaro marks the 35th anniversary of
"America’s honest sports car."
"The Chevrolet Camaro Z28 convertible has
appeared more times in Indy than any other car," said Scott Settlemire, Camaro
assistant brand manager. "We’re truly honored to play such a significant role in
the Indy 500 festivities and in the greatest motorsports event in the world."
The Festival board members will drive the Camaro
Z28 convertibles for numerous official events, including:
- Indy 500 Honor Roll program with local
students
- Indy 500 Festival Parade the day prior to the
race
- Pre-race caravan around the track, prior to
the pace car lap.
Each Festival Board of Director’s Camaro Z28
convertible includes:
- Corvette-inspired 310-horsepower LS1-Gen III
350 cubic inch V8 with cast aluminum engine block
- Four-speed electronically-controlled
automatic transmission
- Traction control
- Monsoon 500-watt premium sound system
- Chromed cast aluminum wheels.
The Festival Board of Directors include civic
and business leaders from Indianapolis who volunteer their time to promote and
create greater exposure for the Indianapolis 500 – considered as "The Greatest
Spectacle in Racing."
