2005 PONTIAC MONTANA OFFERS VERSATILITY
AND VALUE
Entering its final production year, the 2005 Montana will be
phased out of Pontiac’s lineup as production ramps up for
the new 2005 Montana SV6 crossover sport van. For the ’05
model year, Montana will be available in one configuration: extended
wheelbase with front-wheel drive.
With seating for up to eight and numerous seating and storage
configurations, as well as the confident power of its proven 3400
V-6 and Hydra-Matic 4T65-E four-speed automatic transmission,
the 2005 Montana represents excellent value to families needing
a comfortable, capable mid-van.
DVD system leads infotainment choices
The available MontanaVision DVD system leads Montana’s
numerous available entertainment and information choices. “MontanaVision,”
features a DVD player with wireless remote and two wireless headsets.
Ideal for long and short trips, it keeps family members entertained
for hours. The tri-mode system enables passengers to use the DVD
player, the radio and the CD player – all at the same time.
The system features a 7-inch (178-mm) video screen that folds
out of the way when not in use.
Also available is a CD/MP3 audio system, as well as an AM/FM
stereo system with a six-disc, in-dash CD changer, Radio Data
System (RDS), steering wheel-mounted radio controls and rear-seat
audio controls.
XM Satellite Radio also is available. XM Satellite Radio (continental
U.S. only) provides more than 120 coast-to-coast, digital-quality
channels of original commercial-free music and premier news, sports
and talk as well as advanced traffic and weather information for
select major metropolitan areas nationwide. Consumers can subscribe
to the basic service for $9.99 a month. In addition, GM customers
with GMAC financing can choose to include the XM subscription
in their car payments.
Durable, dependable 3400 V-6
All Montana models are powered by the proven 3400 V-6 –
one of the most durable and dependable engines offered in any
minivan – with excellent combined city and highway fuel
economy. The 3.4L overhead valve V-6 produces 185 horsepower (137
kw) at 5200 rpm, and 210 lb.-ft. (284 Nm) of torque at 4000 rpm
– plenty of power to get a fully loaded Montana moving with
ease. The 3400 is mated to an electronically controlled four-speed
automatic transmission.
Safety considerations
Safety belts remain the primary and most effective form of occupant
protection and outboard seats have three-point safety belts in
the second row. The Montana also has dual-stage frontal air bags
and available side-impact air bags for supplemental protection
for front-seat passengers. Dual-stage frontal air bags are designed
to help reduce the risk of air bag-induced injury. When the air
bag system’s control unit detects an impact, it determines
whether the crash is severe enough to trigger a deployment, and
whether the primary amount of inflation is sufficient. The primary
stage alone will deploy in most frontal impacts requiring the
supplemental protection of an air bag, while a secondary stage
is designed to deploy in more severe frontal collisions.
Montana is equipped with LATCH (Lower Anchors and Tethers for
CHildren) system anchors for child safety seats. This system provides
two lower anchors and a top tether anchor to be used to secure
a child seat to the vehicle seat structure. These anchorages are
designed to make it easier to properly install compatible child
safety seats.
Montana also offers OnStar, the leading provider of in-vehicle
safety, security and information services in the United States
and Canada. Using the GPS satellite network and wireless technology,
OnStar features core safety services and OnStar Personal Calling
that allows drivers to make and receive hands-free, voice-activated
phone calls using a powerful three-watt analog system and external
antenna for greater reception.
