2004 BUICK RAINIER OFFERS HOST OF LUXURY AMENITIES
IN RUGGED YET SOPHISTICATED MIDSIZE SUV

DETROIT -- In keeping with the Buick legacy of comfort and elegance, the 2004 Rainier provides an array of luxury amenities and appointments that balance its rugged truck attributes with the upscale convenience features of a well-appointed luxury sedan.

"With all the comfort and convenience features it offers – everything from world-class interior lighting and dual zone HVAC system to standard OnStar® and an optional state-of-the-art Bose audio system, Rainier will be the vehicle choice for customers who demand power and versatility in a stylish package."

Rainier’s features begin with the comfortable and luxurious interior. It includes a leather-wrapped steering wheel, elegant perforated leather seats, door panels trimmed in soft-touch materials, and rich dark walnut woodgrain on the instrument panel, door handle surrounds and center console.

The front seats have six-way power seating positions and two-way power lumbar; ergonomically positioned soft armrests to help minimize driving fatigue; standard lumbar, recline and adjustable headrests; available memory functions with multiple settings; and available heated seats with separate controls for the seat back and bottom. Adjustable floor pedals are offered to accommodate all kinds of drivers.

The cabin offers drivers and passengers alike a variety of climate, entertainment, and comfort enhancing features.

Driver Information Center – a standard multi-language, 22-character Driver Information Center positioned directly under the speedometer on the instrument cluster acts as an interface to the driver for both systems information and programming personalization and memory functions. Features include :

Dual-Zone Temperature ControlThe standard automatic heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) system on the Rainier features dual-zone temperature control and a high-airflow configuration that enables warm-ups and cool-downs faster than other vehicles in its class. In addition, a temperature offset of up to 25 degrees Fahrenheit can be achieved between the passenger and driver zones.

Entertainment Systems

The radio system for Rainier achieves a Listening Test Trialing (LTT) rating of 3.0 (nearing premium system sound) on a scale of 5.0 (premium home system sound), making it one of the midsize SUV segment’s best performing base audio systems. Its features include:

Available Bose Premium Sound – A new high performance digital audio system was designed by Bose Corporation specifically for the 2004 Rainier. Bose began the process by taking thousands of acoustic measurements throughout the cabin and used the data to customize a sound system specifically for Rainier. Bose and Buick worked closely to ensure that the system’s speakers were placed for optimum sound quality and that they blended seamlessly with the vehicle’s interior. This system includes six loudspeakers, two two-state modulation amplifiers, four low-distortion linear amplifiers, six channels of custom equalization, active equalization and custom signal processing.

Available Integrated Navigation Radio – Navigation radio is a supplement to OnStar® that provides drivers with detailed routes from coast-to-coast. This will be a DVD-based system. Drivers view the DVD maps on a display screen in the vehicle.

DVD – A Gen III entertainment system, featuring a DVD player with wireless remote is optional. It has a seven-inch screen with on-screen programming, auxiliary stereo RCA jacks for video game systems and camcorders, and wireless headphones with separate volume controls.

XM Satellite Radio – XM Satellite Radio is available as a factory-installed option. XM offers 100 channels of digital-quality sound coast-to-coast: 71 music channels, more than 30 of them commercial-free and 29 news, sports and talk channels, all for $9.99 a month.

‘Smart’ Switches – Armrest-mounted door switches incorporate three-button memory selections that can retain a host of personalization settings, as well as available seat cushion and back heater controls

Steering Wheel Controls – Redundant steering wheel controls are provided for radio station selection/volume, HVAC, fuel data/trip information and selectable options.
